Using our science and technology photos

Last updated: August 6, 2010.

You are welcome to use any photos or artworks that we have anywhere you wish, providing you're using them for noncommercial purposes only, under the terms of this Creative Commons License. Please note that this applies only to photos we've created ourselves, which are generally marked "www.explainthatstuff.com"; photos on this website created by other people may be subject to copyright. Read more about using material from this website.

Some of our photos are also available in high-resolution form for commercial use. The photos were taken with a 7-megapixel Canon Digital IXUS camera, with a macro lens, and are available as JPG files at a resolution of 3072 x 2304 pixels. You can find low-res versions of most of these photos on our Flickr page for comp layout purposes. If you'd like to use a photo commercially, please simply click on the link that says "Request to license explainthatstuff's photos via Getty Images" on the appropriate Flickr page and follow the instructions.
